DANCE (seven camps)

Sizzling Summer is pleased to offer a variety of summer dance camps this year. Camps will introduce intermediate dance technique in classical ballet, jazz and contemporary dance, incorporating choreography for a performance for family and friends.

Girls and Boys Dance Camp for rising 4th-6th grade girls and boys
Students will engage in barre work, stretching and group work.
Course 301: June 9-13, 8:30-11:45 a.m.
Cost: $90
Instructor: Kris Cangelosi
About the instructor: Kris, an SJA graduate, teaches Ballet I through III and Advanced Dance at the Academy. She has served on the faculty of the Giacobbe Academy of Dance in New Orleans for the past five years and has taught at institutions such as the Atlanta Ballet/Atlanta School of Ballet, the Virginia School of the Arts and the University of South Carolina. She is the founder of the Cangelosi Dance Project.

Girls Dance Camp for rising 7th-12th grade girls
Students will engage in barre work, stretching and group work. Students should bring bottled water in dance bag.
Course 303: June 9-13, 1-5 p.m.
Cost: $110

Attire for ballet: pink tights, black leotard, pink ballets and hair pulled back
Attire for jazz: black leotard, black shorts, paws and black jazz shoes

Course 304: June 16-20, 1-5 p.m.
Cost: $110

Girls and Boys Dance Camp in July for rising 8th-12th grade girls and boys
Session A/Course 305: July 7-11, 9:30-11:15 a.m. (ballet); 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (pointe)
Cost: $100
Instructor: Kris Cangelosi
For dancers who are interested in studying in an intensive ballet program. Session concentrates on the technique in classical ballet.
Attire for ballet: pink tights, black leotard, pink ballets and hair pulled back
Attire for jazz: black leotard, black shorts, paws and black jazz shoes

Session B/Course 306: July 14-18, 9:30-11:15 a.m. (contemporary dance); 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (improvisation)
Cost: $100
Instructor: Kris Cangelosi
For dancers who are interested in studying in an intensive contemporary dance program. Session concentrates on the technique and creation.

Attire for jazz: black leotard, black shorts, paws and black jazz shoes
