UPCOMING PROGRAMS


PSAT Prep Course (four-day workshop):
The fall 2009 workshop will be held on four Saturdays (August 15, August 29, September 12 and September 26), 9 a.m.-noon in the Main Building, room M206.

This course is offered to students during the fall of their junior year. Course content includes emphasis on reading, vocabulary, writing and math skills; a review of the test format; and a timed practice test. The PSAT will be given to all juniors in October of 2009. Course fee is $135 (includes sample test book). Teachers are Mrs. Brenda Waggenspack, SJA English teacher, and Mrs. Linda Raush, former SJA math teacher who teaches at Broadmoor High School.

PSAT Prep Mini-Course will be held on Saturday, September 26, 8:30 a.m.-12:00 noon., in the Main Building (room M207). Course fee is $40. This course is offered to juniors. Course content will include a review of the test format; sample test questions; and a brief, selective review of reading, vocabulary, writing and math skills. This course is designed for students unable to attend the four-day course listed previously. Teachers are Mrs. Brenda Waggenspack, SJA English teacher, and Mrs. Linda Raush, former SJA math teacher who teaches at Broadmoor High School.

ACT Course 103 (One-Day Workshop) will be held on Saturday, September 19, and again on Saturday, January 16 2010, in Medaille Hall (room H105) from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Course fee is $85. Course content will include specific item strategies, content summary and procedures for being mentally, psychologically and physically prepared for the ACT. This course includes a session on the writing section of the ACT. Methods for reducing test anxiety, helpful hints for testing day and ACT scoring information will also be presented. Students will receive a book to guide their study and final preparation for the ACT. Students should bring a lunch with them, as they will not be allowed to leave campus in order to get lunch.
