St. Joseph’s Academy President Sister Adele Lambert, CSJ, will be among six secondary educators to receive the NCEA Catholic Secondary Award, which honors Catholic school educators who deserve national recognition and reflect the richness and diversity of American Catholic education. She will receive her award at the 2012 NCEA Convention and Exposition in Boston.

Sister Adele qualified for the national award after being named the 2011-2012 Distinguished Secondary Educator for the Diocese of Baton Rouge. She will be honored at the Catholic Schools’ Office’s Distinguished Graduates Awards program on January 31.

Dr. Melanie Verges, superintendent of Catholic Schools, visited campus prior to school on January 26 to announce the national award and present Sr. Adele with red roses.

“I am pleased to share this excellent news with you,” Dr. Verges told the student body, faculty and staff gathered in the Activity Center. “You have much to be proud of. The Academy’s leadership is committed, insightful and brilliant, and they have worked to ensure the direction for future growth.”

Sr. Adele said she was humbled by the honor. “This is a proud moment for our beloved Academy,” she said. “I accept this award on behalf of those who made it possible through their support of SJA: our principal, Mrs. Linda Harvison, administrators, faculty, staff, donors and parents.”
