Description:

The Speech and Debate Team affords students the opportunity to compete in forensic and dramatic events in various interscholastic tournaments and contests. The purpose of the club is not only to provide opportunities for interscholastic competition, but also to encourage the overall improvement of public speaking and performance skills. This team has been successful competing in numerous tournaments including the LSU tournament in Baton Rouge, the Louisiana Tournament of Champions and the Catholic Forensic League National Tournaments of the last two years in Chicago and Houston. Club/team membership is open to any student who is truly interested in the promotion and practice of excellent speech communication. The Speech and Debate Team’s service project is reading to children in the pediatric ward at OLOL Regional Medical Center. A special team project this year is hosting a Middle School Speech Tournament.
