Named in honor of St. Joseph’s Academy’s first graduate, Josephine Bahlinger, class of 1877, this $5,000 award toward freshman-year tuition will be given to five incoming 9th grade students based on the following criteria:
• Outstanding academic performance in elementary school
• A history of standardized test scores in the 90th percentile
• Service to school and/or community
• Exemplary conduct record
• Active participation in co-curricular activities
• Award essay
• Personal interview

Award Interviews
Interviews are conducted during our applicant/family interviews in December.
Award Winners
Five award winners are selected from the pool of finalists. They will receive a $5,000 tuition award as well as the $575 registration fee. Award winners are notified in their SJA acceptance packet. Finalists who do not receive the award are awarded their freshman-year registration fee of $575.
Please note that while incoming freshmen may apply for all three merit-based awards, they can only be a recipient of one merit-based award.
