Scholarships & Aid

In keeping with the vision of the Sisters of St. Joseph, no student has ever been denied admission solely on the basis of her family’s ability to pay full tuition.

We recognize that tuition can feel prohibitive to many families and we are committed to making SJA accessible and affordable for all admitted students. We value a school community that includes students with a variety of economic backgrounds.

Students and families are encouraged to apply for financial aid and to explore the merit scholarships available. Each year, SJA offers more than $600,000 in financial aid and $47,305 in merit awards. To learn more about opportunities available to you and your family, please explore the Financial Aid and Scholarships sections below.

We also encourage parents of prospective students to join us for an informational Learning Lunch: Finances and Food program on Friday, October 4, or on Friday, November 8, 2019, in the Mother Alice Hall Community Room, 12-1 p.m. President Jan Breen and members of our Finance team will discuss tuition and financial aid opportunities. Please RSVP here.

Financial Aid

The philosophy of SJA’s tuition assistance program is that an Academy education be available to all young ladies who wish to attend and have the academic ability and motivation to succeed.

Families applying for tuition assistance must do so annually, since family circumstances can change and the amount available for tuition assistance changes every year. The application is done online through a secure, third-party vendor, which streamlines the data-collection process and ensures that financial aid is granted to those families who are most in need. The vendor collects and compiles the data and makes recommendations based upon factors specific to the local economy; however, the SJA Tuition Assistance Committee will make all final decisions regarding financial aid.

Applying for tuition assistance is done online. For 2020-2021, the application period begins February 1, 2020, for returning students and February 20, 2020, for new students. The application period closes on March 23, 2020. Please direct questions about tuition assistance to Jane Pardi at (225) 388-2234 or pardij@sjabr.org.
