Alumnae Office Hosts Online Painting Class

St. Joseph’s Academy alumnae, current students and their mothers enjoyed a virtual painting class taught by Maria Prochaska Boudreaux, a 1984 graduate. The class was held via Zoom from Boudreaux’s studio, Fleur de ME Designs.

Participants were able to pick up their supplies from campus prior to the event. Supplies for out-of-town participants were mailed.

Prochaska pre-sketched and textured canvases which depicted the statue of St. Joseph in front of Mother Alice Hall. She provided step-by-step instructions to make the process easy enough for beginners.

“I love all classes, live and virtual,” Boudreaux said. “I hope everyone passes a good time and enjoys being creative. My prayer for everyone is to let their fears and apprehension turn into joy and pride and creativity to totally enjoy the process.”

In addition to local participants, the class drew painters from Texas, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Tennessee, Maryland, Alaska and Canada.

“The Fleur de ME painting class was so much fun,” Alumnae Director Katie Jeter Valenciano ’04 said. “I was very intimidated at the start of the class, but Maria made the impossible possible. She was great at explaining things in a paint-by-number manner, which made the class easy to follow. I hope to schedule a class and head to her studio with my friends soon.”
