SJA joined the LHSAA in basketball, its only organized sport at the time. Prior to that, the basketball team was an independent sport, playing 18 to 20 games a year. Among its opponents were Baker, Istrouma, Glen Oaks, Denham Springs, Plaquemine, St. John and Walker.
The coach for the 1964-1965 school year was Sister Mary Paul (Sister Joan Laplace).
