SJA Competes in Virtual State Science Fair

Twenty of 22 participating St. Joseph’s Academy students placed in the 2020 Louisiana State Science and Engineering Fair, which was held online because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Black Box Company Presents ‘Curtains’

The St. Joseph’s Academy/Catholic High School Black Box Theater was able to complete its run of the musical comedy Curtains prior to the statewide closure of schools.

Track Team Dominates in Tip-Off Classic

The St. Joseph’s Academy track and field team opened the 2020 outdoor season with a dominating win in the 2020 Tip-Off Invitational at Catholic High School.

Three Student-Athletes Sign Commitment Papers

Three St. Joseph’s Academy seniors signed commitment papers on March 6 to compete at the collegiate level next year. Isabelle Brown and Virginia Dirks will run cross country and track at LSU, and Madison Douget will play soccer at Belhaven University.

Students Present Research Projects

Sixteen St. Joseph’s Academy students were selected to present their STEM research projects at the Louisiana Junior Science and Humanities Symposium.

Juniors, Seniors Shadow Mentors

St. Joseph’s Academy juniors and seniors enjoyed the opportunity to learn about potential careers of interest as they participated in the annual Job Shadowing Day.

SJA Wins 2020 Regional Science Fair

St. Joseph’s Academy took top honors at the Region VII Science and Engineering Fair, held February 19 in the LSU Union. Twenty-one of 36 participating students will advance to the Louisiana State Science and Engineering Fair in mid-March.

National Merit Finalists Announced

All seven of St. Joseph’s Academy’s National Merit Semifinalists have advanced to Finalist standing in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program competition.

SJA Celebrates Unity Mass

St. Joseph’s Academy celebrated the annual Unity Mass on the morning of February 11. Father Jason Palermo was the presider.

SJA Inducts 2020 Hall of Fame Class

The St. Joseph’s Academy Athletic Hall of Fame welcomed its three newest members on February 8. Inducted in a special evening ceremony were Stephanie Dellocono Osorno ’06 (tennis), Linda McCall McCann ’61 (basketball) and Kathryn “Kathy” Saichuk (coach of cross country, basketball and track and field; athletic director).
