The St. Joseph’s Academy basketball team honored senior Adelle Bourg prior to the start of its February 10 game against Brusly. The Redstickers won 33-28, with Bourg scoring two field goals from beyond the three-point line. Juniors Emily Soignet and Peyton Soignet scored 10 points each.
Bourg was introduced, along with her parents, and received flowers and an autographed basketball.
A three-year letter winner, Bourg is the daughter of Becky and Bubbie Bourg. “Senior Night was definitely an emotional night,” she said. “Knowing my SJA basketball career is coming to an end was happy and sad at the same time. I am so thankful for four years of playing SJA basketball. I will always remember the friends I’ve made and all the fun and laughs we’ve shared. I am so thankful for the love and support from my teammates, coaches, friends and family.”
Coach Tim Waller said Bourg is a model student-athlete at SJA. “She leads by example on and off the court with deliberate attention to detail,” he said.
The Redstickers play their final game of the season on February 11, traveling to Ascension Catholic for a 6 p.m. tip off.
