The St. Joseph’s Academy cross country team remained undefeated on the season with a first-place finish in the Watson High School Cross Country Classic. The meet was held October 19 at Choctaw Trails Cross Country Park in Clinton, Mississippi.
SJA placed five runners in the top 20 to post a low score of 54 points in the Girls 5K Varsity Gold Race. There were 17 teams in the field.
The JV team also placed five runners in the top 20 to score 68 points and finish second – just one point shy of first-place finisher E.D. White – in the Girls 5K Silver Race. Twenty-six teams competed.
Michelle Daigle led the Redstickers’ charge in the Gold Race, finishing fourth in 18:23.86 (personal record). She was followed by Hope Lemoine, 11th place, 19:34.58 (personal record); Emmaline Ritter, 12th place, 19:37.36 (personal record); Sara Pasquier, 15th place, 19:46.75; Tiana Khuri, 19th place, 19:52.93 (personal record); Charlotte Beck, 23rd place, 19:57.67; and Melia Hooper, 27th place, 20:09.06.
Order of finish in the Silver Race follows: Olivia Crews, eighth place, 20:04.18 (personal record); Grace Martin, 14th place, 20:24.34 (personal record); Kaitlyn Garidel, 15th place, 20:32.26 (personal record); Anna Amedee, 16th place, 20:34.27 (personal record); Camille Vaughan, 20th place, 20:41.05 (personal record); Cate Barbier, 21st place, 20:42.67 (personal record); Noella Fields, 27th place, 20:59.66 (personal record); and Audree Comeaux, 29th place, 21:07.66 (personal record).
After a bye on October 26, the Redstickers will compete in the Baton Rouge Metro Championship on November 2 at Highland Road Park.
