Executive Board Elections Held

The St. Joseph’s Academy student body elected the members of its 2021-2022 Student Council executive board on April 14.

Junior Vivian Dille has been elected president of the student body. Junior Reagan Angers is the new vice president. Sophomore Avery Bruce has been elected secretary/treasurer, and freshman Charley Fernandez will serve as communications coordinator.

Dille served as communications coordinator as a sophomore and said she loved learning about the innerworkings of the executive board. “Since then, I have been fired up about the opportunity to serve on exec again,” she said. “I ran for student body president because I love to be a servant leader amongst my peers, especially amongst the amazing students here at SJA. Attending SJA has been such a blessing, and I wanted to have a role where I can play a part in making school a fun place and a welcoming environment for each and every student. Working as the student body president is the perfect opportunity to spread joy and positivity throughout the school community, and I am so excited to do so next year.”

Angers has been a member of SJA’s Student Council each of the last three years. She’s also active in Spanish Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Beta and National Honor Society. “I love being involved, and being on Student Council has given me such an appreciation for the school,” she said. “I’m looking forward to welcoming the freshmen and planning Challenge Day. I’m also so excited for more restrictions to be lifted and for SJA to come alive after this crazy year. I am so excited for next year and for what’s to come.”

Bruce, who has served as a Student Council class representative for the past two years, said she ran for the office of secretary to better serve her school. “I’ve looked up to the executive board for my past two years at SJA as a wonderful group of girls who are such positive role models,” she said. “By taking on this leadership role, I hope I am able to lead the school in an active and helpful way. I hope that this next year on exec will allow me to contribute in an even greater way alongside the amazing president, vice president and communications coordinator. I cannot wait to see what this next year will bring.”

Fernandez served as a freshman class representative this year. She said she ran for communications coordinator because she wanted to be even more involved in her school community. “In my role, I can help the students stay on track of events throughout the year, and I want to help people make the most out of the next school year,” she said. “I am most looking forward to getting to plan school events and getting to know all the Student Council members. I’m so excited for next year. Let’s go SJA!”
