FACS Presents Annual Style Show
The St. Joseph’s Academy Family and Consumer Science Department presented the annual SJA Style Show during an afternoon assembly on April 15. The show was also presented for parents and friends later that evening. The theme for this year’s production was Dancing with the Sewing Stars.
Students in Clothing Construction made and modeled three-tiered skirts and athletic wear. Students in Family and Consumer Science made and modeled pajama bottoms and skirts. The final scene of the show featured seniors in Advanced Clothing Construction modeling the formal dresses they made.
This year’s style show marked the final production for FACS faculty member Amy Neck, who will transition to a part-time role in the art department for the 2025-2026 school year. “My last style show after 19 years turned out to be a wonderful experience, just like in past years,” she said. “The seniors picked the song (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing to walk out. I felt that song summed up how I feel. It’s been a great run of years, and I’ve enjoyed them all. I can honestly say I’ve had the time of my life. When I stop to count the number of seniors and long dresses that have walked the runway, I think I have had 450 seniors and dresses over the 19 years.”
Lending their performance talents to the production were Caroline Minvielle performing Risk by Gracie Abrams; Nola Savoie and Anna Kate Terrell performing Never Say Never by Justin Bieber; and Emily Vennen performing Don’t You Worry ’bout a Thing by Tori Kelly.
Catholic High students performed and served as escorts for the models. They were Carter Alanzo, Davis Dawes, Charlie Lanehart, Logan Nguyen, Gus Piazza and Hudson Rounds.
Also working to make the show a success were Julia Burns, Darby Thompson and Holly Browning, program; Virginia Lauve, Addison Bernhard, Finley Malone, Clara Jane Couvillion, Catherine Dunn, Channing Brown and Ellen Tarleton, opening scene script; Avery Denicola, Margaret Murthy and Aubrey Carter, opening scene video production; Hugo Andricain, lighting and sound; Celeste Cashen, Mallory Montelaro, Sage Allen, Kaitlyn Bajon and Marlee LeSage, props; Toni Rose Heyward and Sara Ryan Elliott, music; and Turner Industries, runway donation and installation.
