Junior Class Spends Day in Retreat

St. Joseph’s Academy juniors gathered at Sacred Heart on March 18 for their class retreat. The theme of the day-long event was Strengthened by the Spirit.
The day was organized and facilitated by Campus Minister Jade Spears, Assistant Campus Minister Chelsea Colomb and Stephanie Clouatre Davis.

Spears said the retreat’s theme spoke to what she hoped each junior took away from the experience. “We wanted to provide them time and space away from daily life to rekindle their relationship with God and strengthen the bonds that exist with God, Sticker sister and self,” she said.

Each junior received a copy of Matthew Kelly’s Holy Moments at the conclusion of the retreat. The books were a gift from Cynthia Andries Litz, SJA class of 1954, and her son, Kenneth L. Litz Jr., who is the godfather of SJA junior Kayla Broussard. “It is our desire that the juniors carry the holy moments from retreat back to daily life,” Spears said.
Father Mathew Dunn celebrated mass. Students spent time in Adoration, while Reconciliation was offered by Father David Allen, Father Dunn, Father William Farge, SJ, Bishop Emeritus Robert Muench, Father Richard Potts, Father Tom Ranzino and Father Tim Watson.

Faculty members helping to staff the retreat were Jill Abadie, Katie Amato, Alexandra Arceneaux, Stephen Barrios, Dorinda Beaumont, Mackenzie Brown, Allison Bruton, Brad Buras, Alyse Carriere, Catherine Durnin, Jonathan Durocher, Stephanie Faucette, Aaron Finley, Ellen Frazier, Ally Giardina, Brooke Haigler, Erin Hart, Lori Kaiser, Kaki Lowe, Sarah McCann, Jade McCune, Cecilia Methvin, Amelia Morgan, Emily Peavy, Jennifer Prather, Leigh Grace Rouyer, Nadine Saunders, Brianna Sommers, Priscilla Talbot, Kayla Telhiard, Catherine Théfenne, Tiffany Trascher, Aimee Urdiales and Tim Waller.
