Mothers’ Club Hosts Annual Style Show

Approximately 1,000 students and mothers enjoyed the 2019 Mother-Daughter Brunch & Style Show hosted by the St. Joseph’s Academy Mothers’ Club on April 7. The theme for this year’s event, held at Celtic Studios, was Breakfast at Tiffany’s

SJA seniors, accompanied by their moms, modeled the latest spring fashions. Participating boutiques were Hemline Towne Center, Hemline Highland, NK, Chatta Box, Edit, Vertage, Aria, Eros, Blu Spero, Head over Heels, H Kyle and Love.

Following the buffet brunch, Mothers’ Club President Aimee Walker welcomed the large crowd. Junior Sydney LaFleur and freshman Ava Ventress offered the prayer. Committee chair Vanessa LaFleur and co-chair Eva Ventress thanked those who worked to make this year’s event a success. Mothers’ Club Moderator Katie Jeter Valenciano drew for door prizes. Senior Anna Reese Couhig, Student Council president, and her mother, Finney Couhig, reflected on their SJA experience and introduced the year-in-review slide shows produced by faculty member Sara Rounds and her media arts students. 

Guest dancers and ushers were Catholic High School students Reid Babin, Parker Delatte, Conner LeBlanc, Jake Netterville, Elijah Reames, Will Lott and Hunter Antie. Dances were choreographed by SJA seniors Addison Bruce and Elise Marchand.

Door prizes were provided by the SJA Sticker Shop, Coco Lash Beauty Bar, Greta Carey Peoples (Stella Dot), Childish Couture, Chatta Box, H Kyle, Uniquely Stitched Embroidery, Body Style Personal Fitness, Lucy’s Sweet Nation, Christopher Photography, Michelle Brandon (Paparazzi), Catherine Leake (CDC Designs), Geri Pearson Todd, Mark A. Ventress, DDS (Cosmetic Dentistry of Baton Rouge), Crystal Hubbard (Pink Cadillac Sales Director-Mary Kay Cosmetics), Taylor Shae Designs, Ruffino’s, Sew Many Tees, Naked Wax Bar, Linens & Décor and Let’s Bre Crafty.

In-kind sponsors were Celtic Studios, Premier Sound Services, Woman’s Hospital, Frugé Orthodontics, Ace Enterprises and Susan Marchand of Yogalates.

Joining LaFleur and Ventress on the planning committee were Marsha Bruce, Allison Sceroler, Shannon Lewy, Lisa West, Laurene Hutchinson, Aimee Walker, Lissa Wesson, Katie Jeter Valenciano and Piper Wilson. 

SJA students attending the brunch received silver angel charms, courtesy of Tina LaHaye, to commemorate the event.
