St. Joseph’s Academy seniors Mia Barfield and Audrey Elliott have been recognized as semifinalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Named commended students by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation are Callie LaBauve, Isabelle Lieux, Rachel Saunders and Kenzie Stentiford.
Semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million to be offered next spring. Approximately 95 percent of semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and approximately half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
Barfield is the daughter of Lauren and Louis Barfield; she attended Our Lady of Mercy. Elliott is the daughter of Paula and Don Elliott; she attended the Baton Rouge International School.
LaBauve is the daughter of Meghan and Timothy LaBauve; she attended St. Thomas More. Lieux is the daughter of Connie and Garrett Lieux; she attended St. George. Saunders is the daughter of Karen and Henri Saunders; she attended St. Thomas More. Stentiford is the daughter of Carol and Greg Stentiford; she attended St. George.
