Runners Compete in Two Meets
The St. Joseph’s Academy cross country team split into two squads on September 16, with the Varsity-A team competing in the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama, and the Varsity-B team competing in the LCA Knights Invitational in Duson.
The Southern Showcase featured 31 teams and 237 runners in the Girls 5,000 Meter Championship Division. SJA scored 191 points and finished third behind Brentwood High (66 points) and Auburn (154 points).
SJA’s runners and their times were Grace Rennhoff, 19th place, 18:31.58 (personal record); Elise Brown, 31st place, 18:59.77 (season best); Hannah Vaughan, 44th place, 19:14.95 (season best); Michelle Daigle, 49th place, 19:19.40; Kaitlyn Francise, 72nd place, 19:46.49 (personal record); Charlotte Beck, 115th place, 20:27.46 (personal record); and Madison Mannino, 138th place, 20:50.91.
The LCA Knights Invitational featured 16 teams and 137 runners in the three-mile varsity race. SJA scored 54 points to finish first. Rounding out the top five were Ascension Episcopal (101), Vandeblt Catholic (105), Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy (121) and Lafayette High (138).
SJA’s runners and times were Julia Monzon, 7th place, 19:21.30 (season best); Melia Hooper, 9th place, 19:27.00 (season best); Tiana Khuri, 11th place, 19:30.80 (personal record); Grace Martin, 20th place, 20:17.10 (season best); Sara Pasquier, 21st place, 20:18.80; Stella Vincent, 24th place, 20:33.50 (season best); and Emmaline Ritter, 26th place, 20:50.10 (personal record).
JV runners and their times from the LCA invitational were Hope Lemoine, 1st place, 20:41.0; Kathryn Casey, 2nd place, 20:51.7 (season best); Sophia Otzenberger, 3rd place, 20:58.1 (personal record); Camille Vaughan, 4th place, 21:42.1 (personal record); Audree Comeaux, 6th place, 22:49.0; and Kaiser Stentiford, 9th place, 23:39.0.
Next up for the Redstickers is the SJA Cross Country Invitational on September 30 at Highland Road Park. The varsity race starts at 8 a.m. followed by the JV race at 9 a.m.
