Less than a week after winning its ninth-consecutive state championship, the St. Joseph’s Academy cross country team competed in the prestigious Nike Cross Nationals South Regional at Bear Branch Park in The Woodlands, Texas. The Redstickers finished 14th in the girls’ 5K championship division of the meet, which featured 21 seeded teams and 199 scored finishers.
In the Girls Rising Stars Race, the Redstickers finished second out of 21 teams and 287 scored finishers.
The meet, held November 23, is one of eight regional qualifiers sponsored by Nike Cross across the country. SJA competed against top teams from Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas and Mississippi.
SJA’s seven runners and their order of finish in the championship race were Michelle Daigle, 24th place, 18:36.5; Charlotte Beck, 123rd place, 20:10.8; Emmaline Ritter, 131st place, 20:16.5; Tiana Khuri, 149th place, 20:32.6; Hope Lemoine, 158th place, 20:45.1; Melia Hooper, 177th place, 21:31.2; and Sara Pasquier, 178th place, 21:31.3.
SJA’s Rising Stars runners and their order of finish were Olivia Crews, 18th place, 20:52.7; Camille Vaughan, 19th place, 20:55.2; Anna Amedee, 20th place, 20:58.9; Cate Barbier, 27th place, 21:22.7; Kaitlyn Garidel, 32nd place, 21:33.8; Noella Fields, 44th place, 22:03.8; Ellie Rose Blake, 46th place, 22:12.9; Camille Sims, 61st place, 22:49.9; and Audree Comeaux, 65th place, 22:55.6.
The SJA cross country team finished the 2024 season as the number one ranked team in Louisiana in the final LTFCA Coaches Composite Poll of the 2024 season.
