Runners Win LCA Knights Invitational

The St. Joseph’s Academy cross country team traveled to Duson on September 21 for the LCA Knights Invitational hosted by Lafayette Christian Academy of Lafayette. 

In a day marked by 10 personal records and six season-best times, the varsity team placed five runners in the top 13 for a low score of 29 points. The JV placed finishers in all top seven places. 

The three-mile varsity meet featured 23 varsity teams and 182 runners. Rounding out the top five were Metairie Park Country Day High School (93), Lafayette High (101), Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy (158) and St. Thomas Aquinas (180). 

SJA’s runners and times were Emmaline Ritter, 3rd place, 18:54.9; Melia Hooper, 5th place, 19:04.4; Hope Lemoine, 7th place, 19:08.7; Charlotte Beck, 8th place, 19:10.2; Sara Pasquier, 13th place, 19:24.3; Olivia Crews, 15th place, 19:41.5; Kaitlyn Garidel, 18th place, 20:01.9; Tiana Khuri, 20th place, 20:09.2; Anna Amedee, 26th place, 20:41.5. 

JV runners and times were Cate Barbier, 1st place, 20:27.0; Sophia Otzenberger, 2nd place, 20:46.5; Audree Comeaux, 3rd place, 20:55.3; Camille Vaughan, 4th place, 20:56.6; Noella Fields, 5th place, 20:58.4; Camille Sims, 6th place, 21:25.9; Ellie Rose Blake, 7th place, 21:28.7.

Next up for the Redstickers is the SJA Cross Country Invitational on October 5 at Highland Road Park. The varsity race starts at 8 a.m. followed by the JV race at 9 a.m.
