Runners Win Seventh Consecutive Regional

With seven runners finishing in the top nine spots, the St. Joseph’s Academy cross country team won its seventh consecutive LHSAA Division 1, Region 2 Cross Country Championship. The Redstickers scored 19 points to dominate the 15-team field on November 3 at Highland Road Park. 

Dutchtown finished a distant second with 98 points. Rounding out the top five in the three-mile race were Walker (106), Zachary (149) and Baton Rouge High (154).

Hannah Vaughan finished first in 18:01.8 to become SJA’s sixth consecutive individual regional champion. Other scorers were Elise Brown, second place, 18:11.9; Michelle Daigle, third place, 18:24.8; Madison Mannino, sixth place, 18:43.6 (personal record); Grace Rennhoff, seventh place, 18:56.0; Kaitlyn Francise, eighth place, 19:42.0; and Julia Monzon, ninth place, 19:46.9.

The Redstickers will attempt to win their seventh consecutive Class 5A state title on November 14 at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.
