St. Joseph’s Academy senior Mary Dabadie signed her national letter of intent on April 28 and will play tennis at Millsaps College next year. The signing ceremony was held in the school library.
Dabadie is a member of the 2021 state champion tennis team. She won the singles competition at the 2021 LHSAA Division I-Region II Tennis Tournament and was the runner-up at the 2019 regional competition. She is a three-year varsity letter winner in tennis. She also competes in USTA Girls Juniors, where she is ranked in Louisiana and the Southern Region.
Dabadie was joined at the signing ceremony by her parents, Rachel and Charles Dabadie; sisters Maggie Dabadie and Lauren Dabadie; Natalie Toups, SJA class of 2016 and a member of the Millsaps tennis team; SJA tennis coach Jason Noonan; faculty moderator Cindy Downs; local coach Chase LeBlanc; members of the SJA tennis team; and several friends.
“It meant a lot having all of those people there with me, because if it was not for them, I would not get to continue my passion for tennis,” Dabadie said. “Having the support from my family, friends and coaches makes it so much more special and exciting to play in the next chapter in my life. I am looking forward to having more experiences to grow as a person on and off the court and having another amazing opportunity to be a part of a team.”
WAFB and WBRZ covered the signing ceremony. A number of administrators, faculty and staff members were also in attendance.
