Seniors Recognized by National Merit Scholarship Program
Six St. Joseph’s Academy seniors have been recognized as semifinalists in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Another 10 seniors have been named commended students by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Semifinalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program are Evelyn Carley, Constance Cook, Grace Crifasi, Vivian Dille, Carolyn Herman and Haley Pittenger. These academically talented students have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million to be offered next spring. Approximately 95 percent of semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and approximately half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
SJA’s commended students for 2022 are Caroline Boone, Rebecca Bordelon, Caroline Cagle, Aries Dove, Sophia Guillory, Elizabeth Hester, Frances Purgerson, Regina Raemsch, Carsyn Smith and Maeve Zelden.
Carley is the daughter of Murphette and David Carley; she attended Attended Our Lady of Mercy. Cook is the daughter of Constance and Joseph Cook; she attended St. George. Crifasi is the daughter of Julie and Christopher Crifasi; she attended St. Aloysius. Dille is the daughter of Stacy and Robert Dille; she attended St. George. Herman is the daughter of Heather and Mark Herman; she attended St. George. Pittenger is the daughter of Barbara and Joseph Pittenger; she attended St. Aloysius.
Boone is the daughter of Maradith and Ryan Boone; she attended St. Aloysius. Bordelon is the daughter of Amanda and David Bordelon; she attended St. Thomas More. Cagle is the daughter of Andrea and Jeffrey Cagle; she attended Holy Family. Dove is the daughter of Michael Dove and Calandra Cooper; she attended Holy Family. Guillory is the daughter of Lalania Schexnayder and Shane Guillory; she attended Sacred Heart. Hester is the daughter of Corrie and Paxton Hester; she attended Sacred Heart. Purgerson is the daughter of Rebecca and James Purgerson; she attended Our Lady of Mercy. Raemsch is the daughter of Blesilda and Robert Raemsch; she attended Our Lady of Mercy. Smith is the daughter of Jenny and Scott Smith; she attended St. Alphonsus. Zelden is the daughter of Elisabeth and Charles Prescott and Joshua Zelden; she attended St. Aloysius.
