St. Joseph’s Academy celebrated the Feast Day of All Saints on November 1. Members of the Academy community gathered in the Academy Student Center for the Eucharistic celebration.
Father Mathew Dunn, SJA’s chaplain and pastor of Christ the King, was the presider.
Junior Estelle LeBoeuf welcomed the large gathering. “In the Catholic Church, we are called to imitate and venerate saints because of their heroically virtuous lives, martyrdom or their offering of life for others,” she said. “Let us give thanks for the saints and pray that we, too, may live our saintly calling.”
Senior Lauren Quebedeaux read from the book of Revelation. Senior Anna Kathryn White read from the first letter of John. Freshman Evangeline Martinez and junior Charley Bergeron offered the prayers of the faithful.
Lending their musical talents to the service were cantors Addison Macha and Irianna Holmes. Leah Balhoff was the accompanist. The choir was under the direction of Danielle Laird.
Following mass, Principal Stacia Andricain said that a Book of Remembrance was present on the altar containing the names of those members of the Academy community who have passed away. Throughout the month of November, the Book of Remembrance will remain in the Chapel at SJA. She invited those gathered to add the names of their loved ones who have passed away.
Andricain congratulated the faculty and staff members who recently received their pins as new Associates of the Congregation of St. Joseph: Facilities Director Suzie Adler, Counseling Center Administrative Assistant Valerie Brubaker and faculty members Cody Arceneaux, Karen Douet-Wannamaker, Cherie Lato, Meagan Moore and Nadine Saunders.
They join current faculty and staff members Hugo Andricain, Aubrey DeJohn, Meg Gerald, Ghedy Matus, Vicki LaPlace, Dana Murray, Stacy Rennhoff, Jade Spears, Linda Thompson and Hannah Vautrot. Stacia Andricain is also an associate.
Senior Avery Scott closed the assembly by leading the singing of the alma mater.
