SJA Falls Short in Challenge Day 2025

Catholic High School won Challenge Day 2025 by the score of 11-4. The 19th competition between St. Joseph’s Academy and CHS took place April 4 at CHS Stadium. The event is hosted each year by the student councils from both schools.

SJA and CHS met their goals in this year’s Challenge Day Can Drive to benefit the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, each earning two points towards their total. SJA won the Uniform Swap, while CHS was victorious in the Memory Game, Spider Ball, Bucket Ball, Jenga, Volley Lite Transfer and Egg Toss.

The Challenge Day Can Drive is one of the largest food drives of the year, according to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. SJA collected 26,186 pounds of food and $3,188.30 in monetary donations. CHS collected 24,356 pounds of food and $3,250.50 in monetary donations.

Challenge Week kicked off on Monday, March 31. Throughout the week, students were able to dress according to the day’s theme. The week culminated on Friday, with students dressed in military green/camouflage for this year’s Challenge Day theme of GI Joseph. A pre-competition pep rally was held in the Academy Student Center.

The SJA Mothers’ Club and Alumnae Association Board hosted a Challenge Day Watch Party at Uncle Earl’s. Parents, alumnae and faculty/staff members gathered to watch the competition via livestream.
