SJA Honors Students for Service to School

St. Joseph’s Academy Writing Center peer consultants, Student Ambassadors, Help Desk technicians and STEM Lab ambassadors and were honored for their service to the school as part of a morning assembly on April 16.

Jill Abadie, director of the Learning Center, recognized the senior peer consultants in the Writing Center. Peer consultants serve as tutors to help students improve and develop as writers so they can produce more effective writing. Peer consultants also help present after-school workshops. Recognized for their valuable contributions to the school community were Lola Avery, Mary Ellis Beach, Camille Coco, Zaira Mayeux, Emmaline Ritter and Kaiser Stentiford.

During the 2024-2025 academic year, Student Ambassadors worked more than 2,000 hours, upholding and promoting the reputation, traditions and faith modeled by the Sisters of St. Joseph. The goal of club members is to inform prospective students about the many ways in which SJA can enrich their lives in a welcoming community that engages and educates the women of the 21st century.

Cherie Lato and Chelsea Colomb, Student Ambassador co-moderators, introduced this year’s officers: Kara Johnson, president; Lanna Rodrigue, vice president; Finley Malone, secretary; Mary Hill Savoy, communications coordinator; and Channing Brown, historian.

Johnson and Rodrigue thanked the Ambassadors for their service, then introduced the senior Ambassadors who met all club requirements and called them forward to receive certificates of service. Help Desk Manager Taylor Templet and STEM Lab Manager Meagan Moore recognized SJA’s technology ambassadors.

Templet acknowledged the student technicians who work in the Help Desk. They assist students, faculty and staff by addressing computer-related issues, providing loaner computers and repairing computers. They also volunteer their time for technology mission trips and service projects. She recognized students currently working in or training at the Help Desk: Hayden Beard, Abigail Broussard, Celeste Cashen, Evelyn Christofferson, Chloe Gaudin Christophe, Mariana Cuadra, Lily DeCarlo, Sophia DiVincenti, Haley Faucheux, Aila Fitzgerald, Eliza Hanner, Amy Liu, Aariell Martin, Abigail Miller, Sophia Montalbano, Amelia Scioneaux, Sophia Simoneaux, Isabella Tarleton, Anna Terrell, Madelyn Tessier and Caroline Thomas.

Moore said skills developed in technology courses at SJA empower young women to engage and enrich themselves and the world around them based on self-directed learning and skill acquisition. She recognized the students who serve as technology ambassadors by utilizing skills learned in the STEM Lab: Helen Hannaman, Kathryn Mooney, Whitney Nachman, Cheri Nguyen, Mary Nguyen, Ella Santa Ana, Olivia Sterken, Isabella Tarleton and Lucy Wood.
