SJA Hosts Junior Retreat

St. Joseph’s Academy juniors gathered on campus on May 1 for their class retreat. The theme of the day-long event was Strengthened by the Spirit.

The day was facilitated by Stephanie Clouatre Davis and organized by Campus Minister Chelsea Colomb and Assistant Campus Minister Rachael Duchmann.

“I hope the day provided an opportunity to pause as they move into this next phase of their life and recognize the Lord is with them every step of the way,” Colomb said. “I hope they root their identity as daughters of God the Father to always remember that they are uniquely loved by Him, and that even when they may stray, they turn back to be strengthened by the Spirit.”

Duchmann said her hope for the juniors was that the retreat provided a solid foundation as they move into their senior year. “The theme, Strengthened by the Spirit, seemed to naturally invite them to begin stepping into that next chapter,” she said. “I believe this was especially highlighted with the knowledge that the Ring Ceremony was to take place in the evening, which offered the girls a tangible moment to reflect on what it means for them to be stepping into their senior year. I am especially grateful for the opportunity they were given to pause and encounter the Lord in a meaningful way.”

The day concluded with mass celebrated by Father Mathew Dunn.

Faculty members helping staff the retreat were Yvette Aillet, Katie Amato, Kelsey Baines, Stephen Barrios, Dorinda Beaumont, Beatrice Bellony, Sarah Catherine Buie, Brad Buras, Lindsay Carlino, Lesley Cranow, Kolbe David, Aubrey DeJohn, Karen Douet-Wannamaker, Kevin Durbin, Jonathan Durocher, Rachel Eddlestone, Stephanie Faucette, Aaron Finley, Matthew Flanders, Liz Fontenot, Ellen Frazier, Brooke Haigler, Erin Hidalgo, Kelly Hillard, Kate Hutcheson, Kendall Keating, Kaki Lowe, Courtney Malbrue, Taylor Martina, Cecilia Methvin, Emily Peavy, Sara Rounds, Jacqueline Savoia, Melissa Shaw, Brianna Sommers, Jade Spears, Priscilla Talbot, Kayla Telhiard, Catherine Thefenne and Tiffany Trascher.
