St. Joseph’s Academy has named Kyle Carmouche as its new soccer coach. Carmouche has coached SJA’s JV team and served as an assistant varsity coach since 2017. He takes over the program from Stephanie Broussard, who was a member of the Redstickers’ coaching staff since 2010, serving as head coach from 2013 until the end of the 2020 season.

Carmouche began his coaching career in 2012 with the Baton Rouge Soccer Association. He has coached both girls’ and boys’ tournament teams. He led Louisiana United teams (2019-2020) and served as coach of the Catholic High School freshman team (2018 and 2019).

“The SJA soccer program has a great history of success, is deep in tradition and has produced some outstanding players over the years,” Carmouche said. “It is absolutely one of the premier programs in the state. We are very fortunate to have such an extensive talent pool of players to work with, and the program will continue to reach new heights in the years to come.”

Carmouche played Competitive League soccer throughout his childhood in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Baton Rouge, then competed as a member of the CHS varsity soccer team from 1986 to 1988.

SJA Athletic Director Dorinda Beaumont said she is excited that Carmouche has accepted the challenge of being SJA’s new soccer coach. “Kyle brings a wealth of knowledge, a strong work ethic, great communication skills and the reputation necessary to guide our program to achieve even greater success,” Beaumont said. “I look forward to working with him and watching our program flourish.”

In addition to being part of the SJA coaching staff for the past three years, Carmouche has a long personal history with the Academy, as well. Numerous aunts, cousins and nieces, as well as his sisters and wife (Monique Plaisance ’88) graduated from SJA. “I love the culture I have witnessed over the years and the mission to educate young women in the spirit and charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph,” Carmouche said. “Representing SJA as the next head soccer coach is a true honor.”

Carmouche is a 1992 graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in finance. He is the owner of Kyle Carmouche Insurance Agency.
