SJA Participates in Hour of Code
St. Joseph’s Academy participated in the Hour of Code on October 24. Launched in 2013, Hour of Code is a worldwide movement that serves to introduce students to computer science, demystify coding and broaden participation in the field of computer science. The goal of the initiative is to show participants that computer science is fun, creative and accessible at all ages.
SJA students spent the final hour of the school day engaged in coding activities. This enabled many students to try coding for the first time, while students with coding experience were able to experiment with more advanced options.
Faculty members Meagan Moore and Cori Arceneaux coordinated SJA’s Hour of Code.
At the conclusion of class period, students received a certificate for completing the Hour of Code.
More than 180 countries participate in the initiative each year, with 1.8 billion hours of code served.
