SJA Well Represented at Star of Stars

The St. Joseph’s Academy athletic program was well represented at The Advocate’s 39th Athlete of the Year/Star of Stars event on May 19 at L’Auberge Casino and Resort.

The SJA cross country team was named the Girls Team of the Year. The Redstickers won their ninth consecutive LHSAA Division I state championship in 2024. The state title race marked just the third time in the last 12 years in which all top-seven runners finished in the top 25 places.

Recent graduate Michelle Daigle was named Star of Stars for cross country for the second year in a row. During the 2024 season, she became the first Louisiana girl since 2008 to break the 17-minute mark at the three-mile distance. She did so in three races. She is a two-time All-Metro Team MVP and 2024 Gatorade Louisiana Runner of the Year. She will compete for LSU next year.

Recent graduate Ella Mancuso was named Star of Stars for tennis. This year, she led SJA to its fifth consecutive LHSAA Division I tennis championship. Undefeated during the 2025 season with a 17-0 mark, she also won the state singles championship for the second year in a row.

Former LSU great Eddie Kennison, who played 13 seasons in the NFL, served as guest speaker for the evening.
