Soccer Team Celebrates 2023 Season

Members of the St. Joseph’s Academy state champion soccer team were honored during a special recognition ceremony on April 18 in the Academy Student Center.

This year’s team captured the first LHSAA Division I state championship in program history. The Redstickers finished the season with a 23-3-2 mark and were District 5 champions for the seventh year in a row. 

Coach Kyle Carmouche awarded certificates of participation and varsity letters, including four-year letter awards to Ellis Hosch, Isabella Lalonde and Riley Wilson. 

Honored for being named to the All-District First Team were Addie Carmouche, Gracie Davis, Madison Hitzman (Overall MVP), Ellis Hosch (Defensive MVP), Isabella Lalonde, Ivy May, Josie Ostrowe, Avery Oubre, Angelina Rispone, Kristina Wilkerson, Alyssa Wilson and Riley Wilson. Named to the All-District Second Team were Anna Alleman, Greenley Duplantis and Katie Henry. 

All-Metro First Team honorees recognized were Madison Hitzman, Ellis Hosch, Angela Rispone and Riley Wilson. Avery Oubre was recognized as an Honorable Mention Team member. 

Honored as members of the All-State First Team were Madison Hitzman, Ellis Hosch (Defensive MVP), Avery Oubre, Angelina Rispone and Riley Wilson. Gracie Davis and Isabella Lalonde were named to the All-State Second Team. 

Named to the Louisiana Coaches Association’s All-State Freshman Team was Ivy May.

A number of special awards were handed out, as well.

Outstanding Varsity Offensive Players: Gracie Davis and Angelina Rispone
Outstanding Varsity Defensive Player: Alyssa Wilson
Varsity Coaches’ Award: Avery Oubre
Varsity MVP: Madison Hitzman
SJA Shield Award: Greenley Duplantis
