St. Joseph’s Academy sophomores spent November 9 in their class retreat, held on campus. The day-long gathering was coordinated by Campus Minister Alise Alexander Ruch and senior Student Ministers.
The theme of the retreat was Whose Am I? Father Mathew Dunn, parochial vicar at St. John the Evangelist in Prairieville, celebrated afternoon mass.
The retreat was centered around the gospel account of Mary and Martha of Bethany. The sophomores studied the two different paths revealed by the sisters. “While Martha’s eyes are fixated on her to-do list, Mary’s eyes are fixated on Jesus,” Ruch said. “Mary prayed first before jumping into the chaos of the day. Throughout the retreat, we reflected on how we can be more like Mary and find moments to fix our eyes on Christ rather than fixing our eyes on our busy schedules. I enjoyed seeing the sophomores embrace the opportunity to pause in the midst of a busy semester to pray and find peace in God’s presence.”
Participating Student Ministers were Sarah Adler, Vivian Ardoin, Ella Aucoin, Avery Claire Bateman, Caroline Boone, Anna Virginia Broyles, Alana Buckley, Jacie Budd, Katie Calegan, Lilly Cambias, Mia Colbert, CC Cook, Marie Cotton, Chloe D'Angelo, Kate Dauzat, Haylee Deshotel, Vivian Dille, Karah DiVincenti, Camille Domangue, McCall Emonet, Jolee Fair, Presley Fernandez, Blake Hester, Camden Hull, Catherine Kellerman, Daniela Latil, Emma Lauret, Katherine Leake, Alyssa LeBlanc, Ava Lemoine, Ellen Livingston, Mary Bennett Marchand, Mary Melancon, Abigail Mire, Kendyll Monceaux, Claire Perrault, Annie Pizzolato, Anna Plauche, Frances Purgerson, Virginia Rader, Burgin Rome, Lillian Roussel, Caroline Ruth, Jordan Simoneaux, Carsyn Smith, Aubrey Turner, Elizabeth Usher, Riley Walker, Millie Claire Weston and Kristian Williams.
