Swim Team Wins 20th City Championship

Scoring 585.5 points, the St. Joseph’s Academy swim team dominated the 19-team field to capture its 20th consecutive Capital City Swim League Championship on October 30. Rounding out the top five were Episcopal (284.5), Baton Rouge High (268), St. Amant (168) and Lutcher (162).

The Redstickers qualified all four swimmers in every event in Friday’s preliminaries to return to the finals on Saturday. The two-day meet was held at Crawfish Aquatics.

Co-coach Ali Buchart said the swimmers put forth maximum effort over the two-day meet. “Multiple seconds were dropped on every single event,” she said. “From the warm-ups in prelims to the last swim in finals, all our girls proved themselves to be the defending City Meet champions. We couldn’t have ended our regular season on a better note, and we are ready for the road to state.
