Swim Team Wins 21st City Championship

The St. Joseph’s Academy swim team dominated the 19-team field to capture its 21st consecutive Capital City Swim League Championship. Winning five of the 11 events, including a sweep of all three relays, the Redstickers scored 587 points to easily outdistance the field. Rounding out the top four were Baton Rouge High (274), Episcopal (247) and University High (234).

Every one of the 18 swimmers competing in individual events in Saturday’s finals session scored a top eight finish. The two-day meet was held October 28-29 at Crawfish Aquatics.

“The girls did a fantastic job handling the challenges of a big meet,” said head coach Ali Buchart. “Like all our other competitions, the girls did their best, and the points reflected the effort. This weekend was a positive event which shows great promise for the state meet.”
