The St. Joseph’s Academy swim team won the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Meet, held September 21 in Thibodaux. The meet was hosted by E.D. White.
SJA scored 696 points to outdistance E.D. White (434) and Vandebilt Catholic (397). Academy swimmers won six of the eight individual events and two of the three relays.
“SJA swam a great meet,” said head coach Jimmy Roberts, noting that swimmers recorded 34 lifetime best individual event times. “We continue to improve our swimming technique as well as improve our event times week after week.”
Finishing in the top three of each event were the following:
200 freestyle: Molly Mayo, first place; Riley Roedel, second place; Audrey Lemoine, third place
200 individual medley: Mary Claire Roberts, first place; Isabella Vargas, second place; Amelia Hartdegen, third place
50 freestyle: Lyla Roper, second place; Caroline Roberts, third place
100 butterfly: Sydney Kline, first place; Cate Clapinski, third place
100 freestyle: Riley Roedel, first place; Audrey Lemoine, second place; Kearra Grisby, third place
500 freestyle: Lyla Roper, first place; Molly Mayo, second place; Isabella Vargas, third place
100 backstroke: Olivia Serrano, second place
100 breaststroke: Madeline Oubre, first place; Mary Claire Roberts, second place; Caroline Roberts, third place
200 freestyle relay: Riley Roedel, Molly Mayo, Kearra Grisby and Caroline Roberts, first place
400 freestyle relay: Molly Mayo, Lyla Roper, Riley Roedel and Mary Claire Roberts, first place
Next up for the swimmers is the CCSL Invitational Meet, set for September 28 at Crawfish Aquatics.
