The St. Joseph’s Academy swim team finished first in the Capital City Swim League High School Invitational on September 28. Winning six of eight individual events and all three relays, the Redstickers scored 582 points to finish ahead of Mt. Carmel Academy (362) and Episcopal (290). The meet was held at Crawfish Aquatics. 

Rounding out the field were University High (172), Isidore Newman (126) and Parkview Baptist (48). 

“The SJA girls showed tremendous resilience in another mid-season meet with great race efforts,” said coach Jimmy Roberts. “Competing for the fourth Saturday in a row, SJA swimmers used training and determination to outrace competitors in two very competitive relay events and close finishes in three individual events. Swimmers continue to display great improvement, with 20 event lifetime best times posted in the meet.”
 
The top three finishers in each event are as follows.

200 Medley Relay: Lyla Roper, Molly Mayo, Riley Roedel and Kearra Grisby, 1st place, 1:54.62

200 Freestyle: Lyla Roper, 1st place, 1:58.76; Sydney Kline, 2nd place, 2:06.10

200 Individual Medley: Molly Mayo, 1st place, 2:14.05

50 Freestyle: Riley Roedel, 1st place, 26.63; Kearra Grisby, 2nd place, 26.87

100 Butterfly: Riley Roedel, 1st place, 1:01.21; Audrey Lemoine, 3rd place, 1:01.69

100 Freestyle: Cate Clapinski, 2nd place, 58.47; Caroline Robers, 3rd place, 58.59

500 Freestyle: Mary Claire Roberts, 1st place, 5:32.29

200 Freestyle Relay: Kearra Grisby, Riley Roedel, Caroline Roberts and Audrey Lemoine, 1st place, 1:45.56

100 Backstroke: Lyla Roper, 3rd place, 1:01.21

100 Breaststroke: Molly Mayo, 1st place, 1:09.63; Audrey Lemoine, 2nd place, 1:10.33; Madeline Oubre, 3rd place, 1:12.78

400 Freestyle Relay: Molly Mayo, Lyla Roper, Caroline Roberts and Audrey Lemoine, 1st place, 3:48.75

Next up for SJA is a meet at Lafayette Crawfish Aquatics on October 12.
