Swimmers Open Season with Dominating Win
The 12-time defending state champion St. Joseph’s Academy swim team opened the 2023 season with a big win in the first Capital City Swim League meet of the year. With first-place finishes in all 11 events, the Redstickers scored 642 points to outdistance the eight-team field. The meet was held at Crawfish Aquatics.
Rounding out the top five were Baton Rouge High School (291), Dutchtown (204), West Feliciana (66) and Brusly (56).
The top three finishers in each event are as follows:
200 Medley Relay: Maddox Saurage, Madeline Oubre, Audrey Lemoine and Mary Grace Talbot (SJA A Team), 1st place, 2:00.67; Ava Schoen, Mignon Prochaska, Sydney Kline and Audrey Rothkamm (SJA B Team), 2nd place, 2:03.31
