Swimmers Win Lafayette Open Invitational
The St. Joseph’s Academy swim team brought home a first-place team finish for the fifth time in five meets. The swimmers captured the Lafayette Open High School Invitational, held October 12. Winning seven of eight individual events and all three relays, the Redstickers easily finished ahead of Lafayette High School and Teurlings Catholic. The meet was held at Lafayette Crawfish Aquatics.
Swimmers recorded 19 lifetime-best and 12 season-best times during the meet. “SJA swimming displayed their competitiveness and depth in the meet mainly swimming against teammates,” said coach Jimmy Roberts. “The girls continue to improve and bond as a team.”
The top three finishers in each event are as follows.
200 Medley Relay: Molly Mayo, Mary Claire Roberts, Sydney Kline and Olivia Serrano, 1st place, 1:56.74
200 Freestyle: Audrey Lemoine, 1st place, 2:04.71; Cate Clapinski, 2nd place, 2:08.16; Olivia Serrano, 3rd place, 2:10.11

Next up for SJA is the CCSL League Meet #2 on October 26 at Crawfish Aquatics. The meet starts at 7 a.m.
