Tennis Team Wins Two in One Weekend

The St. Joseph’s Academy tennis team continued its winning ways with a win on March 27 in a scrimmage against highly ranked Pensacola Catholic and a sweep of University High on March 28. The Redstickers are 4-0 on the season.

SJA won six courts and dropped one to Pensacola Catholic and won all five courts against the Cubs of U-High. “U-High has a strong team, particularly in its doubles pairs with many of them playing together as teams for years,” said co-captain Anne Scott Guglielmo, a junior. “So it was a good, solid win for us.”

Team captain and senior Emerson Stafford said she enjoyed playing the team from Florida. “It was fun to play people we don’t normally see since they traveled all the way from Pensacola,” she said. “Their girls were strong, seasoned players, but we brought our A game.”

The Redstickers travel to New Orleans on March 29 for a match against Isidore Newman at Audubon Park.
