Tennis Team Wraps Year with Awards Party
The four-time state champion St. Joseph’s Academy tennis team celebrated the 2024 season with an awards party on May 13 in the Fife Student Commons. Team members and their parents then enjoyed dinner at the home of senior Allaire Benedetto.
First-year coach Jonathan Howard and faculty moderator Cindy Downs awarded participation certificates and varsity letters, including four-year letters to seniors Allaire Benedetto, Alexandra Orantes and Maria Sereda.
Cameron Raines was the recipient of the Noonan Coaches Award. Ella Mancuso was the Most Valuable Player award winner.
Also recognized were the players named to the 2024 All-Metro Team: Ella Mancuso and Kate McCann, singles, and the doubles teams of Caroline Holliday/Cameron Raines and Maria Sereda/Adeline Hedges.
Recognized were regional and state tournament winners: Ella Mancuso, regional singles runner up; Caroline Holliday and Cameron Raines, regional and state doubles champions; and Maria Sereda and Adeline Hedges, regional and state doubles runners up.
Special awards were also handed out:
Most Improved: Emma Griffith
Best Teammate: Ryland Stafford
Match of the Year: Allaire Benedetto and Lucy Jimenez vs. Ocean Springs
Guglielmo/Pousson Parent Award: Farrah Benedetto
