Track Team Finishes Fourth in Outdoor State Meet
The St. Joseph’s Academy track and field team finished fourth in the Class 5A LHSAA State Outdoor Championships on May 4. The Redstickers scored 40 points to finish behind Scotlandville (83 points), Barbe (51) and Lafayette High (41). The championship meet was held at LSU’s Bernie Moore Track & Field Complex.
There were 40 teams in the field. Rounding out the top 10 were Baton Rouge High (36), Alexandria (34), Destrehan (26), John Curtis (20), Mandeville (18) East Ascension (16) and Mt. Carmel (16).
Results are as follows.
100 meters: Dillon Landry, 3rd place, 11.81 (personal record, new school record)
200 meters: Dillon Landry, 5th place, 24.97 (personal record, #3 on SJA all-time performance list)
400 meters: Alexandria Stewart, 7th place, 58.12
800 meters: Michelle Daigle, 3rd place, 2:17.10
1,600 meters: Hannah Vaughan, 8th place, 5:23.44
3,200 meters: Michelle Daigle, 2nd place, 11:12.32 (personal record, #5 on SJA all-time performance list); Grace Rennhoff, 5th place, 11:37.77
High Jump: Kennedy Papillion, 3rd place, 5-05.75
Long jump: Jaelyn Jones, 8th place, 16-10.25
4x200 meter relay: Audrey Manda, Jaelyn Jones, Sophia Lalonde and Alexandria Stewart, 8th place, 1:45.08
4x400 meter relay: Jaelyn Jones, Berlin Gomez, Michelle Daigle and Alexandria Stewart, 8th place, 4:06.07
4x800 meter relay: Hannah Vaughan, Ainsley Brignac, Emmaline Ritter and Michelle Daigle, 1st place, 1st place, 9:30.97 (personal record, new school record, new state composite record and new Class 5A record)
