Track Team Off to Strong Indoor Start
The 2026 indoor track and field season is under way, and St. Joseph’s Academy is off to a strong start. The Redstickers opened defense of their 2025 LHSAA indoor championship with a runner-up finish in the McNeese High School I Indoor Meet on January 17.
The team finished second with 61 points and recorded several all-time marks in program history.
Amalia Terry-Lee placed second in the 400-meter race with a time of 59.96, the second-fastest in SJA history. Kennedy Papillion ran 1:00.22 in the same event to move into number three all-time and cleared 5'6" in the high jump, the top indoor height in school history.
Emoireé Rogers jumped 18'3" in the long jump, setting a meet record and earning the number two all-time spot, and posted 36'5" in the triple jump, also number two all-time.
Sydney Brust’s 8.14 in the 55-meter dash and Annadelle Talley’s 9.94 in the 55-meter hurdles placed both in the top 10 all-time at SJA, while Mary Bellelo added a personal best of 27'8" in the shot put, also ranking Top 10 all-time. The Redstickers finished second in both the 4x400 (4:12.41) and 4x800 relays (10:20.09), rounding out a meet that showcased scoring depth across every event group.
On January 24, the Redstickers competed in the LSU Qualifier Indoor Track & Field Meet, earning multiple podium finishes and adding several performances to the school’s all-time record lists.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Tiana Khuri, Charlotte Beck, Cate Barbier and Audrey Manda placed first while recording the eighth fastest time in SJA history. The 4x200-meter relay team of Amalia Terry-Lee, Emoireé Rogers, Wes Lipari and Paige Ullrich finished second.
Emoireé Rogers placed fifth in the triple jump, posting the fifth best mark in school history. The meet concluded with a strong performance in the 4x400-meter relay, with Ava Harrison, Kennedy Papillion, Wes Lipari and Amalia Terry-Lee finishing second in the seventh fastest time in SJA history.
“The LSU Qualifier Meet highlighted the depth, balance and competitive strength of the Redstickers, as athletes contributed across relays and field events while continuing to elevate the program’s standard of excellence,” said Coach Vernon Langley.
Next up is the McNeese High School II Indoor Meet on January 31 followed by the Last Chance Qualifiers Meet on February 7. The LHSAA State Indoor Championship is slated for February 21 at LSU.
