Track Team Wins Regional Championship
The St. Joseph’s Academy track and field team won the 2025 LHSAA Class 5A-Region II track and field championship, held May 1 at Ponchatoula High School. The top three finishers in each event qualify for the LHSAA Class 5A Outdoor Championships on May 10 at LSU’s Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
The Redstickers scored 109 points to finish on top of the 11-team field. Rounding out the top five were Zachary (90), Dutchtown (52), St. Amant (52) and Liberty (47).
SJA qualified nine athletes in six individual events as well as two relay events at next Saturday’s state championship.
Results are as follows.
100 meters: Alexandria Stewart, 2nd place, 12.25
100-meter hurdles: Amelia Lalonde, 8th place, 17.50
200 meters: Alexandria Stewart, 1st place, 24.61
300-meter hurdles: Jaelyn Jones, 6th place, 47.80; Amelia Lalonde, 7th place, 48.68
400 meters: Alexandria Stewart, 1st place, 56.75
