Volleyball Team Wins Academic Award

The United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association have announced that St. Joseph’s Academy is among the 1,208 collegiate and high school volleyball teams across the country that have earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for 2021-2022. The award honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 or higher on a 5.0 scale.

Just six girls high school teams in Louisiana earned the Team Academic Award: SJA, coached by Sivi Miller; Archbishop Chapelle High School; Benjamin Franklin High School; Lutcher High School; St. Michael the Archangel High School; and Central High School, coached by SJA graduate Michele Ashmore LeBouef ’05.

“Academic achievement does not happen by accident,” said AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer in announcing this year’s awards. “I’m so proud of the hundreds of coaching staffs that make excellence in the classroom a priority.”
