Volleyball Team Wins Geaux Pink Match

The St. Joseph’s Academy volleyball team swept district opponent Zachary High School 3-0 to win the annual Geaux Pink match. The competition was held October 16 in the Academy Student Center.

With the win, SJA improved to 18-12 on the season (7-0 in district play).

Geaux Pink benefits Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. Through the sale of pink t-shirts, baked goods, raffles and event tickets, more than $4,800 was raised in support of breast cancer research and to increase awareness of the disease.

New this year, stylists from SOHO Boutique Salon were on hand to cut and style the hair of those wishing to donate a ponytail at least 10 inches in length to Pink Heart Funds, a non-profit organization that donates wigs to cancer patients. Honey Loup is the general manager of SOHO and the mother of SJA senior Bailey Loup.

Donating to the raffles were the following generous supporters: Dr. Ryan Perry; Engle Martin & Associates; Frugé Orthodontics; Garden District Coffee; Gerry Lane; Goodwood Hardware; Kendra Scott; Linens & Décor; Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center; Morgan Miller, Mary Kay Consultant; Mud Pies & Masterpieces; Prater Bailey & Associates; Rocca, Lit & Izzo’s; SOHO Boutique Salon; Zachary High School; Bank of Zachary and numerous SJA parents and families.
